Bedroom Decor Ideas
Designed correctly, a bedroom can function as your nightly sanctuary.
Plan the Furniture
It’s called a bedroom for a reason: the bed is the crucial piece of furniture. As such, it should tend pride of place within the room, presumably with the headboard positioned against one wall and paths for walking on each side.
“Don’t shove a bed within the corner,” if in the least possible, said Nick Olsen, a replacement York City designer. “They’re impossible to form , and uncomfortable for 2 people to use.”
One exception: children’s bunk beds. Because they have already got safety rails that sometimes only allow access from one side, there’s no reason not to have one during a corner.
If there’s space, install nightstands on each side of an adult bed for convenience. they might be simple small tabletops, tables with one drawer for storing essentials, or something more extensive. “Consider whether you would like extra space for storing ,” said Mr. Olsen. “You can use two dressers for nightstands,” to supply space for folded clothing.
Do you wish to watch TV in bed?
If so, you’ll need a dresser, cabinet, or console near the foot of the bed, which will hold the TV while providing additional storage (unless you propose to mount it on the wall or spring for a motorized stand).
Many designers also wish to put one chair within the corner of a bedroom, not only as an area to rest but also as a landing pad for tossed clothing and private accessories when you’re in a hurry.
Make It Soft
Because the goal is to make an area that feels calm and alluring, a bedroom is perhaps not the place to use bold colors or graphic wallpaper. “I would avoid anything that feels aggressive,” Mr. Olsen said. “Even though i prefer bold colors in my decorating, i prefer paler tones within the bedrooms: gentle blues, greens and yellows.”
Make the Bed
There are many ways to form a bed, and therefore the subject of whether or not you ought to use a top sheet has been the topic of fierce debate in recent years. Much comes right down to personal preference and whether you desire a bedroom that feels casual or formal.
